Blubber experiment 🐧🧊
7th Feb 2025
This week we have been focusing our topic learning on penguins. When researching our polar fact books we learnt that penguins have a layer of fat under their skin called ‘blubber’ which keeps them warm in icy water.
We decided to carry out an experiment to test if a bag of lard would keep our hands warm in our icy water tray. We even tested it against a wooly glove.
We concluded that the bag of lard kept our hands the warmest, just like blubber keeps penguins warm. 😊
